An immersive farmhouse garden, rooted in place and time

Voted one of the world’s most beautiful gardens by Veranda magazine, this Grade II listed farmhouse set within a private estate form a microcosm of the surrounding ecological and historic landscape. Located in the Dorset AONB, the project brings together landscape designers, architects, and ecological specialists to create a family home and emotionally resonant garden that respect history while embracing contemporary life.

Boundaries have been sensitively extended to accommodate leisure and ecological balance, while historic outbuildings and a large kitchen garden have been reconfigured. Extensive planting of ornamental and productive trees in formal and informal settings bridges house and landscape.

The estate also holds a scheduled ancient monument — a moat and manor remains — which has guided design decisions, ensuring new interventions honour the site’s layered history while offering a garden deeply rooted in its place.

“There is not a day we don’t reflect what has been achieved – a transformational experience in careful hands.” – Client
