Harris Bugg Studio makes Landscape Architecture Studio of the Year shortlist

We are delighted to have made the shortlist in the Landscape Architecture Studio of the Year category at this year’s Pro Landscaper Business Awards, which celebrates good business practice, strong industry relationships and an invaluable and positive workforce – all of which we hold in high regard.

The Business Awards look beyond individual projects and recognise and celebrate the business successes of organisations that are leading the UK’s landscaping industry.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the 25 April.

Harris Bugg Studio’s Eco-Terrazzo wins Surface Design Award

The pioneering eco-terrazzo, prototyped and developed exclusively for the sustainable, adaptive show garden made for Horatio’s Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, was created from ultra-low-carbon green concrete and unusable crushed waste materials destined for landfill. The result: a surface with a 77% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional cement – the equivalent of 14 return flights from London to Barcelona.

When polished, the recycled materials are transformed into a striking terrazzo finish, combining beautiful aesthetics, robust functionality, and addressing the need for eco-conscious materials in urban design.  Read more about the award-winning garden here.

Harris Bugg Studio appointed to revitalise the planting of iconic Barbican Conservatory

The Barbican Conservatory, with its dramatic Brutalist structure and abundant planting, exemplifies the powerful interplay between nature and architecture, and is a vital green space at the heart of the capital. The project is a key part of a major programme of conservation and transformation being led by Allies and Morrison and Asif Khan Studio and environmental engineers Buro Happold.

“To be entrusted with the future of the Barbican Conservatory is both an honour and a responsibility. We are committed to taking thoughtful, considered steps with the expert team we have assembled to craft a deep understanding of the place and a bold new future for it.” said Hugo Bugg, co-founder Harris Bugg Studio.

The project team includes an exceptional group of experts, selected by Harris Bugg Studio: Matthew Pottage, Karen Fitzsimon, Christopher Young, Phil Griffiths, alongside collaboration with Marta Lowcewicz, head gardener and her team.
