RHS Bridgewater wins first prize in European Garden Awards

RHS Bridgewater has won first prize in the European Garden Awards, in the Design or Concept of a Contemporary Park or Garden category.

The international judges considered aspects such as innovative implementation and management, sustainability, visitor or educational services as well as high-quality restoration or modern design of a park or garden.

One judge commented: “It is the combination of modern design in an historic landscape and its special design for the location that makes Bridgewater an outstanding garden of the highest quality.”

M&G Garden to become a new pocket park in Southwark

Harris Bugg Studio’s Gold Medal-winning M&G Garden from RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021 is to be relocated to the London Borough of Southwark as a new park for the community, thanks to a partnership between Harris Bugg Studio, community-led developer Fabrix and Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST).   Price’s Street in Southwark has been identified as the new location for the garden, subject to planning permission.

The garden, designed by Harris Bugg Studio and exhibited at the one-off September 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, was the first ever medal winner to be designed to become a public pocket park.

Charlotte and Hugo join line-up for Charleston’s Festival of the Garden in July

Charlotte and Hugo will join regenerative grower, forager and cook Poppy Okotcha at The Festival of the Garden this July. Together, they will reimagine kitchen gardens for today – from the innovations at RHS Garden Bridgewater to naturally balanced edible forest gardens, they celebrate the power of growing food for ourselves and our communities.

Charleston’s Festival of the Garden offers four days of live and in-person events bringing together today’s most pioneering gardeners, designers, writers, artists, horticulturists and activists. This year’s Festival of the Garden explores our connection with the land, and the line between wilderness and cultivation, landscapes and gardens.

The talk takes place on 14 July.  More information and tickets available here
